Today 20 of our employees and their family members participated in our first Turfscapes Serve Day. We partnered with Friends of Lake Lomond to prepare the kayak launch and dock sites. Looking forward to seeing this new park opened to the people of Longview in 2024.

Our client today mentioned that their drains were consistently overflowing. Upon further inspection we found that an installer reduced the plumbing from 6” to 2” pipe downstream. This not only severely restricted the flow but also created a void for debris to become trapped in. We will install the proper sized SDR-35 pipe to immediately remedy the issue. Unfortunately, we run across failed retaining walls all too often. We’ve had a lot of clients ask us why our wall bids are so high compared to other contractors. When we bid a wall, we take all of the hydraulic factors into consideration. The most common reason we see for wall failures is improper drainage. This wall had no drainage rock or drain piping installed behind it. When heavy rains came, it toppled right over. Please keep this in mind when selecting a contractor - the low bid isn’t always the best bid!

Let there be light! Sneak peak of the 10’ long gas fire pit we’ve been working on the last few weeks. It features a single piece of custom cut granite and Austin stone surround tied into the porch pillar. We still need to put some finishing touches on it but couldn’t wait to share it with everyone.

We recently poured this drainage swale for a customer who needed to move a large amounts of water in an efficient manner. Anyone can pour concrete but few have the experience to execute projects of this importance with expert oversight. If you need a level of service beyond average Turfscapes is the only call to make!

Before - During - After Our landscape crews knocked out a ton of work today. Regraded yard, installed landscaping with stone border to keep water off of house, and topped it off with some Zoysia sod.

One of our landscape crews was hard at work today planting and refreshing one of our properties today with a botanical garden grade color arrangement. They used 12 different varieties/colors of annuals and perennials to ensure a “WOW!” factor all summer long!

Caught in the act!!! • Instead of quitting when it started raining this afternoon our lawn crews kept going to complete their final task for the week. • Our landscape crews managed to lay 19 pallets of grass today and stayed after 5 pm to ensure that the client’s concrete areas were free of debris. February is the perfect time to plant trees! Recently we were tasked with installing screening trees between these apartment units and the new development nearby. By removing the turf and irrigation from this area we were able to save the client over 12,000 gallons a year off of their water usage in addition to the benefit of the green screening.

Got trees? December is the perfect month to plant container trees. Most trees are dormant by now which virtually eliminates transplant shock and other issues associated with transplanting. When plant material is not stressed it focuses on root growth which prepares them for the hot summer months ahead. Our commercial property of the week is Hilton Garden Inn Longview. During the month of October we performed our fall color change and core aeration/topdress. Core aeration loosens compacted soils to improve root growth and intake of nutrients. We use organic compost mix to topdress our lawns after aeration.
